Circus Days
Our circus workshop offers a thorough grounding in all things Circus! The children will learn to juggle, spin plates, balance peacock feathers, tightrope walk and much much more. Please click on the tabs above to find out all about our Circus days.
Our Circus Days are a wonderful introduction to the world of circus skills. One of our hugely talented instructors will spend the whole day at your school educating and enchanting your pupils.
The school day begins with a 30 minute assembly to demonstrate, in a fun and entertaining manner, the skills the children are going to learn. This will include a performance of some amazing tricks to inspire them.
Afterwards there will be classes in the school hall for the rest of the day. The lessons vary for different age groups and are taught with easy step by step instructions.
The children get to try the following activities:
Scarf and Beanbag juggling-even the youngest can learn to throw and catch these colourful scarves, while older children can progress to learning the three beanbag juggle and juggling with a partner!
Plate spinning- colourful plastic plates that spin on the end of sticks, and can be passed still spinning from stick to stick and from child to child. |
Feather balancing- the feather’s lightness and shape make it very easy to balance so children can gain confidence balancing it on their hand, finger or face. |
Fun wheels and Hand-held stilts- teaching balance and co-ordination. Children also learn to co-operate by helping each other.
Chinese ribbons- Colourful ribbons that make patterns in the sky. |
Diabolo- the classic spinning juggling prop, spin the diabolo and then see how high you can throw it! |
Tightwire- Two foot high and ten foot long, this is the centrepiece of the equipment. Depending on ability different levels of help can be given to ensure that children get safely from one end to the other. |
Usually the whole class will have a structured lesson in Scarf Juggling, Feather Balancing and Plate Spinning, and then the rest of the activities are used for free practice time, with the intructor helping the pupils on the tightwire.
At least one other teacher will need to be present at all times and class sizes are generally limited to a maximum of 35 pupils.
The lesson times vary depending on the number of classes.
We are very adaptable so do get in touch and discuss what you need. We need 30 minutes for the assembly and at least 30 minutes for each class, so we can do up to a maximum of 7 classes in one day. |
